Lake Catherine

August 28th, 2007 Randy No comments

We spent the weekend at a cabin on Lake Catherine near Hot Springs, Arkansas. We had plans to goto a Cabin in Louisiana at a state park called Chemin-A-Haut, but they had closed their pool early (And really who wants to stay in a swamp anyways?). So we started looking for places near us in Arkansas. You can see the pictures in the Gallery, we had a great time with my dad.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. It’s been an exciting month for us. Mikey turned 5 on the 19th, him and Joey both started school the next day. I had some reservations on Mikey starting school so early, but he’s doing good so far. I’ll post the pictures from the first day of school in the gallery tonight.

My dads in town for the first time too, Visiting with us for a little while before he heads out to the next job. Mom and Grandma both have plans to come visit us in the next few months.

Rough n’ Ready Day’s

May 12th, 2007 Randy No comments

In 1835, European settlers in Drew County founded a small community, dubbing it Independence. After the Mexican-American War a decade later, they changed the name to “Rough ‘n Ready” in honor of Gen. Zachary Taylor. In 1849, the local courthouse moved to the valley below, the site of what is now Monticello.
Nevertheless, the Rough ‘n Ready name lived on, if only because it was the site of a Civil War skirmish that took place on May 24, 1865-five full weeks after Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee surrendered to Union Gen. Ulysses Grant on April 19, 1865.

Took the kids had a blast check out the gallery for pictures.
